In a place which combines natural beauty with deep history, it is operated the most important sanctuary of ancient times, the sanctuary of Olympia, which was dedicated to the father of the gods, Zeus. Within the church there was the gold and ivory statue of Zeus designed by Pheidias, which was considered in antiquity as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
