The first stop of our tour is the Acropolis, the magnificent sanctuary of ancient Athens. Up on the hill of the Acropolis we will stay about an hour and a half, so we will be able to learn more about the history of Ancient Athens and admire from above the modern image of the city. We continue our route by parking for about 20-30 minutes at Amalia Avenue, in front of Hadrian's Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the two monuments that were built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian and adorn the city center.
Our next stop is Kallimarmaro, meaning beautifully marbled, where we will stay about 10- 15 minutes to admire the ancient stadium, known for its revival of the modern Olympic Games in 1896. Leaving the Panathenaic Stadium, we will move towards Syntagma Square, the most central square of Athens that is located just in front of the building of the Old Palace, known today as the Greek Parliament. There, we will find ourselves in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, dedicated to all dead soldiers, where we will stop for about 10-15 minutes. Our next "cultural station" is "The Athenian Trilogy" of neoclassicism, designed by Danish architect Theophil Hansen: The National Library, The Academy of Athens and the main building of the University of Athens. There, we will remain for about 10-15 minutes and then we will descend to Stadiou Street and admire the Palace of the Old House, a main part of the Modern Greek history.
Next stops are Monastiraki and the traditional settlement of Thissio, where we will stay for about 45-50 minutes. The end of the tour will be a visit to Lycabettus Hill whose view is revealing the modern image of the capital city of Greece.
